HP Boosts Quality and Value of Graphic Arts Photo Printing

HP today introduced two digital press solutions with capabilities that improve photo printing quality and color consistency.

The company also announced that output for HP Indigo presses has received a Wilhelm Imaging Research (WIR) Display Permanence rating of approximately 45 years, the first of its kind for a digital press.(1)

The new press solutions are designed for photofinishers, professional photographers, yearbook publishers, print service providers and other graphic arts professionals.

  • The HP Indigo WS6000p offers professional portrait output quality as a high-quality, low-cost replacement to silver-halide systems.
  • The enhanced HP Indigo W7200 Digital Press improves color management and consistency for high-volume printing of photo specialty products, including photo books.

HP additionally launched a partner solution from M-photo to manage professional lab workflow for HP Indigo presses and silver-halide output devices. HP also announced the general availability of the ARTtrust self-certification system for photographers and artists using HP Designjet Z Series Professional Photo Printers.

HP Helps Organizations Reduce Business Risk with Transparent Records Management

HP today introduced a records management solution that enables customers to significantly reduce the business risks associated with the growing regulatory compliance and legal discovery demands.

HP TRIM 7 – an advanced records management solution built on 24 years of experience and best practices – enables organizations to transparently manage all of their Microsoft SharePoint Server records in a single environment, regardless of the source. This includes documents as well as information found in SharePoint Server blogs, wikis, discussions, forms, calendars and workflows.

Widespread adoption of SharePoint Server provides the opportunity to consolidate and simplify the management of content stored across multiple SharePoint instances. HP TRIM 7 enables the transparent capture, search and management of all types of physical and electronic business information, including Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and the upcoming SharePoint Server 2010.

HP Company Foundation Donates $500,000 to Haiti Earthquake Relief

The Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation today announced that it has committed $500,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund to support relief efforts in Haiti following the earthquake that devastated the country this week.

The HP Company Foundation also announced that it has committed up to $250,000 to match eligible contributions by employees of HP in support of the earthquake relief efforts.

The earthquake is reported to have been the worst to hit Haiti in 200 years, and the United Nations estimates that tens of thousands of people may have been killed. The funds committed by the HP Company Foundation will, through the American Red Cross, go toward supporting short-term relief as well as helping the long-term reconstruction work needed to rebuild the country.

HP Unveils Touch-enabled Point-of-sale System for Retail Stores

HP today introduced a touch-enabled point-of-sale (POS) system for retailers seeking to cost-effectively manage their businesses.

Easy to use, the HP ap5000 All-in-One POS System features a self-contained combination of products that removes the guesswork for retailers wanting to create a comprehensive POS hardware solution. The compact system maximizes work space and includes a central processing unit, touch-enabled display, magnetic stripe reader and either a two-line customer display or a 10.4-inch LCD customer display to enhance promotional activities.

The high-performance HP ap5000 is built to handle the rigorous demands of retail environments. Its space-saving design requires only one power outlet, reducing cable clutter and making it ideal for retailers requiring a sleek design for customer-facing areas, such as hospitality and specialty retail environments.

HP TouchSmart hardware powers new kiosk solution

HP also announced its TouchSmart hardware is powering independent software vendor partner Escalate Retail’s new Interactive Store Kiosk. The kiosk at Escalate allows multiple points of touch contact simultaneously and allows shoppers to “grab” digital information with their hands and interact with on-screen content through touch and gesture. Kiosk customers can:

  • access Escalate’s entire product catalog, known as the “endless aisle”;
  • browse video content that is relevant to their shopping choices;
  • view Escalate’s latest social networking stream; and
  • read customer reviews.

HP has been honored with a Fall 2009 STAR Award for Service Excellence from the Technology Services Industry Association.

HP Expands Printing Portfolio to Address Broader Customer Base in Eco-solvent Market

HP today unveiled an expanded portfolio of HP Latex Printing Technology solutions designed to broaden production capabilities for a greater number of customers and provide a viable alternative to eco-solvent technologies.

The offerings enable small and midsize digital print and sign shops, copy shops and photo labs to produce indoor and outdoor applications with ease while reducing their environmental impact.

Additions to the portfolio include:

  • The HP Designjet L25500 Printer, which offers easy, low-maintenance printing of a wider range of applications – from indoor point-of-purchase displays, exhibition graphics and interior décor like wall murals and fabrics to outdoor banners, bus shelters and vehicle wraps – than is possible with eco-solvent or traditional water-based printing alone(1)
  • Six Original HP printing materials compatible with HP Latex Ink printers, including two recyclable(2) substrates and three polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-free alternatives
  • The expansion of the HP Planet Partners program to include the HP Large-format Media take-back program in the United States and select countries in Europe(2)

HP today announced several new imaging and printing offerings, the expansion of its 25-year relationship with Canon Inc., and new channel programs to help businesses streamline and integrate paper-intensive processes with digital workflows.
